Valorant: A Quick Guide to the Tactical FPS

Valorant is a super popular 5v5 tactical first-person shooter (FPS) game by Riot Games. It combines precise shooting like Counter-Strike with unique character powers like Overwatch. If you like competitive games that need both good aim and smart strategy, Valorant is for you!

What’s the Goal?

• Attackers: Your team tries to plant a “Spike” (a bomb) at special spots on the map, then make sure it explodes. Or, you can just eliminate all the enemy players.
• Defenders: Your team tries to stop the attackers from planting the Spike. If they do plant it, you need to defuse it before it blows up. Or, you can eliminate all the enemy players.
• Rounds: Each match has many rounds, and the first team to win 13 rounds wins the game.

Key Things You Need to Know:

1. Agents (Characters with Powers): This is what makes Valorant special! You pick a unique character called an “Agent.”
   • Roles: Agents have different roles:
     • Duelists: Good at attacking and getting kills first.
     • Initiators: Good at finding enemies and pushing them out of cover.
     • Controllers: Good at blocking enemy vision with smokes or setting up traps.
     • Sentinels: Good at defending areas and stopping enemies from pushing.
   • Abilities: Each Agent has special powers. You get some for free each round, and you can buy others. You also charge up a powerful “Ultimate” ability during the game. These powers are super important for winning rounds!
2. Shooting Skills: Even with powers, good aim is key! Headshots are very powerful. You’ll need to learn how to control your weapon’s recoil.
3. Money (Economy): At the start of each round, you buy weapons, armor, and some abilities with “Creds.” You earn Creds by winning rounds, getting kills, and planting/defusing the Spike. Sometimes your team will save money for better weapons in the next round.
4. Maps: There are different maps, each with its own layout. Learning the map (where to hide, where to push, common spots) is very important.

How to Play (Basic Tips for Beginners):

• Choose an Agent You Like: Try out different Agents to see whose powers fit your playstyle.
• Buy Armor First: Always try to buy light or heavy armor at the start of a round, along with your gun. It helps you survive more shots.
• Learn Your Weapon’s Spray: Shoot at a wall in the practice range to see how your gun’s bullets spread. This helps you control it better.
• Use Your Powers! Don’t hold onto your abilities. Use them to help your team, get information, or secure kills.
• Communicate: Talk to your teammates! Tell them where enemies are, what you’re doing, and if you need help. Using your microphone is best.
• Play the Objective: Remember, it’s not just about getting kills. Plant the Spike as an attacker, or defuse it as a defender!

Valorant is a challenging but very rewarding game. Practice your aim, learn your Agent’s powers, and work with your team, and you’ll be planting Spikes and winning rounds in no time!
